A bookbinder by trade, Brelee is meticulous, precise, and a consummate professional in every way. Her clients are anything but ordinary, and the material she uses to create the covers of her commissioned books is sourced through unspeakable means. When offered a commission unlike any before, the line between craftsmanship and monstrosity begins to blur.

This role requires the actor to be able to portray the most nuanced of emotions with subtlety and tact. They must be able to have focused intent while portraying Brelee as she goes through her tasks, but also be calm and relaxed due to the poetic nature of her craft. But that state of serenity can change once a new commission is accepted and she must begin sourcing new materials.

We are also looking for the supporting role of Hannah (20s), a spritely woman full of life and positive energy who becomes one of Brelee’s victims. This role requires a partial life cast for special effects makeup. Applicants should not have any known allergies or sensitivities to latex, silicone, alginate, adhesives, or other standard life-casting materials.

Both roles are open to all nationalities.

• No Dialogue: There will be no speaking lines for this role. Everything that will need to be conveyed in the narrative will be done through the setting of each scene, action / reaction, and execution. It will additionally be supported through on-screen writing i.e., emails / texts.

• Movement: The actor should be able to convey focus, concentration, and self-awareness of one’s surroundings such as observing and studying the actions of other people. Showcase your dexterity with your hands by either sewing, folding paper into origami, or some other craft. Convey a variety of expression while looking 3/4 to camera. Stoicism, patience, concentration, satisfaction, self-control.

• Please send a headshot and one or two video clips (cell phone footage is fine) of you walking around outside, doing chores, or other simple motions which conveys yourself in a relaxed and untroubled manner. Additionally, please send CU of a variety of subtle facial expressions. The more minimalist, the better. Tiny movements sometimes carry the heaviest weight. If you have a reel, please send that as well.
