Project Janus is an independent science-fiction short film of approximately 20 minutes (pilot/short film), produced in Amsterdam.

The story follows Mark, a scientist using an experimental quantum computer to identify the exact point at which his life divided into two possible realities: one in which he survived and one in which he died. As the system reconstructs events from his past, the distinction between scientific observation, memory and reality begins to collapse.

The film combines an emotional human story with themes of quantum physics, regret, identity and the consequences of trying to change the past. Live-action performances will be combined with carefully produced visual effects and AI-assisted cinematic elements.

Wat bieden wij?
This is an independent, self-funded production. The roles are currently offered on an expenses-only basis. Reasonable travel expenses within the Netherlands and meals during filming will be provided.

Actors will receive:

Edited footage for their showreel
Screen credit
Professional production stills where available
A copy or private viewing link to the completed film
Clear agreements regarding the use of their performance and image

Some scenes may use AI-assisted visual effects. An actor’s likeness or voice will not be digitally cloned or reused outside the agreed film and promotional material without separate written consent.

We are casting actors for the following roles:

MARK — Male, playing age approximately 45–60
The lead character. An intelligent and driven scientist carrying unresolved emotional pain. The role requires a subtle, natural screen performance and the ability to communicate intense internal conflict without excessive dialogue. Fluent or strong English required. Dutch is an advantage.

YOUNG MARK — Male, playing age approximately 20–30
Mark during his university years in Delft in 1994. Brilliant, ambitious, curious and not yet aware of the consequences of his future decisions. Dutch and English required.

DIMITRI — Male, playing age approximately 40–65
An intelligent, authoritative and enigmatic man connected to the quantum experiment. The actor should speak Russian or be able to perform a convincing Russian accent in English.

LAURA — Female, playing age approximately 35–55
A grounded and emotionally perceptive character with an important connection to Mark. The role requires warmth, emotional depth and naturalistic acting. English required; Dutch is an advantage.

We welcome trained actors as well as experienced emerging screen actors. Applicants should be based in or able to travel to Amsterdam.

Periode
Filming is planned for autumn 2026 in Amsterdam, with the exact shooting dates arranged according to the availability of the selected actors.

The production is expected to require approximately one or two shooting days per role, depending on the character. Rehearsals and a script reading may take place before filming.
