Little Holland is an absurdist crime film with elements of dark comedy. The story follows three interconnected storylines: Lola, a sadistic and emotionally unstable young woman on a killing spree through Amsterdam; Sonny, a hitman tasked with capturing Lola alive; and Tom, a Dutch student who is unexpectedly dragged into the criminal underworld of the Netherlands.

The film is currently in post-production. Following a test screening, we decided to add one final scene to give the story a little more depth and further develop Lola’s character.

The scene is a flashback to Lola’s childhood. We find her as a young girl having breakfast with her mother, Lily, who is already drunk on wine. Lola’s father has just abandoned them, and Lily launches into an increasingly bitter rant about what a terrible man he was and about men in general.

What initially seems like a drunken rant gradually becomes something more significant: Lily is effectively teaching her daughter how to view the world. She passes on her deeply cynical, pessimistic and distrustful worldview, shaping Lola’s understanding of people and relationships from an early age.

The scene provides an emotional glimpse into Lola’s childhood and offers some insight into how she became the person we meet later in the film.

We are looking for an actress between the age of 35-45, who has blonde hair and preferably blue/green eyes. It is also important that she speaks English with an American accent, because that is how Lola talks.

We want Lily to come across as obnoxious, drunk, unreasonable and selfish. She is drowning in self pity and she is genuinely convinced that the whole world is out to get her and Lola. The actress needs to be able to convey these emotions in an almost over the top way.

Periode
Shooting will take place on Friday October 2 (evening) in Utrecht. The scene will take no longer than 3 hours to shoot.
