Casting Call for Short Drama Film "It'll Be Alright"

For our third year student project at the NAVB (Allround Filmmaker), we are working on "Komt Wel Goed", a short drama film of approximately 15 minutes, produced on a semi-professional basis. The project explores complex themes such as mental health (with a specific focus on male suicide) and gender inequality in the workplace. We follow two young adults whose lives run parallel due to societal expectations and personal struggles, until they unexpectedly get stuck together and are confronted with each other. This story highlights the impact of current stigmas surrounding masculinity and femininity and challenges the viewer to think about these often invisible barriers.

Themes
The film focuses on taboos around mental health, gender roles, and the challenges men and women experience in a world full of expectations and pressure. "Komt Wel Goed" aims to make these topics accessible and raise awareness through the perspective of both main characters: a young man struggling with his emotions and a young woman searching for equality and recognition in the workplace.

For our short drama film "Komt Wel Goed" we are looking for talented, committed actors who want to bring our characters to life. We explore themes such as mental health, gender roles and societal expectations, and are looking for actors who are comfortable with these sensitive topics.

Wanted roles:

1. Mark, 28 years old
Mark is a young adult who at first glance seems to have everything going for him; a large social network, a well-paid job and a nice house in Amsterdam. However, he struggles with suppressed emotions after losing a good friend to suicide and his parents' divorce. He struggles with depressive feelings but keeps this hidden due to societal expectations around masculinity. For this role, we are looking for an actor who can bring subtlety and emotional depth.

2. Saar, 27 years old
Saar is an ambitious woman who is confronted with gender inequality/sexism in the workplace on a daily basis. Despite her hard work, she receives less recognition than her male colleagues and struggles with the constant pressure to prove herself. We are looking for an actress who can play powerfully but also vulnerable and can take the audience along in Saar's struggle.

3. Thomas, 39 years old
Thomas is Saar's boss and embodies an old-fashioned, cynical view of work and gender roles. He constantly underestimates Saar and openly shows his prejudices, which undermines her self-confidence. For this role, we are looking for an actor who can adopt an authoritarian and slightly provocative attitude and can credibly portray a "pessimistic" boss.
