Synopsis:
A family man lives a happy life with his wife and son; everything is perfect, from breakfast in bed to film nights on the couch. He always looks forward to coming back from his job as an accountant to the smell of dinner being made by his lovely wife, she gives him a kiss on the cheek and everything feels good again, he is completely relaxed and at home. He always looks well groomed, he always has his hair perfectly styled, shaves his beard, brushes his teeth and is always in a sharp suit.

One day he wakes up, his wife is not next to him which is abnormal. A wave of stress comes over him and he wakes up again and it feels a bit different than usual, he can't place why. Instead of walking to the bathroom to freshen up, he is too focused on looking for his wife. Finally he sees her sitting at the table with their son, he immediately feels relieved. His wife greets him with a smile and he can sit at the table for breakfast. Because he had a wave of stress in the morning he is still irritable. His wife acts as if nothing is wrong, and he doesn't know if that makes him feel better or worse.

Slowly but surely he feels worse and worse, situations seem to repeat themselves, he is increasingly irritable and he can't move. Every time he wakes up, the bags under his eyes are bigger and his health is deteriorating, he can't explain why. He tries to protect and keep his family, yet quarrels break out. Slowly but surely his family fades away, he literally sees them disappear before his eyes. When he walks into a room where he hears voices he sees no one standing there, when he saw his wife one moment she is gone the next. Every day he fights to keep his family together, he does his best not to cause quarrels, but sometimes that is unavoidable. His wife and son fade away more and more, until he begins to doubt what is truth and what is illusion.

He is thrown back and forth so much that he can no longer hold on; what he thought was most important in the world is broken, and so is he. After his death, the hard truth is revealed: his family never existed.

For this role it is important that the mother comes across as overly happy and almost fake.
