The Student and the Broom is a short neo-samurai action film, about a minute and a half long. The project is a second-year student film and is being made solely as a course assignment. The final result will likely be posted on YouTube later to share with instructors and fellow students.

Set in 2025, the film boasts a strong visual style inspired by Quentin Tarantino's Kill Bill and classic samurai cinema. Expect dramatic slow motion, intense stand-offs, and a short but powerful sword scene.

The story follows Robin, a young student walking through the center of Eindhoven with a wooden katana at his side and a broom slung over his shoulder. He comes face to face with a mysterious opponent dressed entirely in black. What begins as a tense standstill, with both warriors challenging each other to strike first, escalates into a short, fierce sword fight. Ultimately, Robin disarms his opponent and calmly departs, his broom back on his shoulder.

This film features a short sword fight. Only unsharpened swords and safely rehearsed movements are used. Some experience with martial arts, fencing, or sword movements is helpful, but not required.

The shoot will take place in the city center of Eindhoven, in an urban setting. The shooting days are scheduled for week 43, during the week.

After completion, you'll receive the final result so you can use it for your portfolio or showreel. The film will be shared within the program, and there's a good chance it will appear on YouTube later.

Description
For this film we are looking for two male actors aged approximately 16 to 25 (students).

For the lead role of Robin, we're looking for someone who can portray a modern student with a serious demeanor. Some experience with swords or martial arts is a plus, but not required.

For our opponent, we're looking for someone who can dress entirely in black and project a mysterious, menacing presence. Some experience with swordplay or martial arts is helpful, but not required.

Both roles require physical dedication and the ability to perform a short, simple, rehearsed sword choreography. Safety is paramount: only unsharpened swords are used.
