Film project 'Against the Odds'
In "Against the Odds," you see how young people, despite challenges like housing shortages, backgrounds, or inequality, have found a way to pursue and realize their dreams. Sometimes serious, sometimes lighthearted, but always inspiring.
This series of episodes, produced within the framework of broadcaster ZWART, promises to always feature current and diverse stories. The goal? To show that setbacks aren't always the end point, but rather a source of creativity and resilience. Against the Odds proves that you achieve the greatest things by going against the grain.

(My individual film)
I am looking for an actor to play the lead in my individual short film.
This short film will be a fictional psychological drama, depicting the story of the main character Ivan.
The video is mainly "show don't tell", with (Russian speaking) voiceover lines.
Ivan (23): is a Russian boy. Growing up in St. Petersburg in an apartment with his mother (whose mother is a fashion designer in Russia), his obsession with fashion and designing and making clothes began. Growing up in the 21st century, he discovered the Western fashion world through social media. He became fascinated and decided he wanted to move to Western Europe later, study there, and then take over the fashion world. His family and friends disagreed with these Western plans, especially his mother, who wanted him to build his career in Russia.

In the film, the viewer sees Ivan decide to leave his family behind to pursue his ambition. After a scene on the train, the viewer sees Ivan arrive in Europe (Amsterdam) and subsequently achieve his dreams (studying/designing for European brands, etc.). However, this all remains a dream, because in reality, Ivan is on the train en route to his (mandatory) military service during the war.


Why? The idea for this video arose during research into the broadcaster. The editorial team was commissioned to create these videos within the framework of Omroep Zwart. Omroep Zwart focuses primarily on diversity and highlighting different cultures. However, there's nothing to be found about Russian or Eastern European culture. Due to current events, Russia is primarily portrayed in a negative light and portrayed negatively in the media.
This video will demonstrate that people in Russia are also affected by the political situation. It will also highlight the problems that arise on that side.
Furthermore, a large portion, primarily within the target audience, is unaware of the wealth, freedom, and advantages they experience in this country. This video will help the target audience experience this by showcasing the reality in countries where things are more difficult (specifically, Russia).

So I'm looking for a male actor who wants to play the main character 'Ivan'.
I'm primarily looking for an actor who is interested in this topic and would love to take on this role. Someone who believes it's important to portray this topic and who also wants to resonate with the target audience.
Someone with Russian/Eastern European descent would be a plus, but not required
I would also like to film in and around Amsterdam, so some flexibility in this would be nice.
