Max, an overly romanticized 21-year-old, is waiting in his car for Chloé, an intelligent and cheerful 21-year-old girl he last saw three years ago. They visit their old elementary school, and on the climbing frame they were never allowed to use, they discover there's more to it than just friendship.
When they have their first date a few days later, the day ends with an uncomfortable truth: Chloé is leaving for a nine-month internship abroad in three weeks. She gives Max the choice to move on. Max chooses to go ahead regardless of Chloé's departure.
Over 25 days, they grow closer. They run through the park, share quiet moments, and rediscover what they see in each other. But beneath it all lies the tension of the impending farewell. Max asks if she can stay. Chloé makes it clear that she's not putting her future aside—no matter how wonderful he is.
On day 25, Chloé packs her bags, tears streaming down her face. Max races to Schiphol but arrives too late. Chloé is already at her gate.
Back in his car, Max realizes that some stories don't have a happy ending.
