The short film “Between Leaving and Staying” is a poetic coming-of-age short film about Rick, an 18-year-old boy who is accepted into an art academy in France. To others, this sounds like a dream, but for Rick, it feels like a confrontation with his social anxiety. He loves traveling and longs for the world, but as soon as he actually has to leave, that world suddenly becomes overwhelming.

The film explores what it feels like to travel when you are afraid of people, expectations, and unknown situations. Through abstract camerawork, music, and spoken word, Rick's inner world is portrayed. There is little dialogue, making emotion, facial expressions, and body language very important.

The spoken word pieces are recorded as voice-overs, supported by a self-produced beat created for the film.

What do we offer?
Because this is a student production, there is unfortunately no budget available. However, it does offer experience and material for a portfolio or CV.

Description
We are looking for a male actor aged approximately 16 to 25 for the role of Rick.

The role does not require much dialogue, but primarily the ability to convey inner tension. Think of doubt, overstimulation, desire, fear, and ultimately the courage to take the first step.

Additionally, we are looking for an actor or actress for a small supporting role. This character briefly speaks to Rick at school about his admission to art school in France. The role contains little dialogue but helps to make Rick's inner conflict visible.
