description
The Sumo Wrestler (2012) follows Jack, an Israeli man whose wife is killed in a suicide bombing, leaving him to raise two young daughters. Seeking a new beginning, he moves his family to New York, where he marries Kathy, a mother of four. As their blended household begins to unravel, Jack turns to an unexpected passion — sumo wrestling — as a way to cope with grief and restore purpose to his life.

Saskia Slaaf appears as Carmen, Kathy’s stepdaughter — an ex–heroin addict in a methadone program whose volatile presence and provocative behavior expose the family’s growing instability. Written and directed by Amos Kollek, the film blends dark humor and emotional realism in its exploration of trauma, identity, and the pursuit of redemption.
