Thijs van Aken played in several musicals at the Jeugd Komedie Amsterdam, the Comedia, Studio 100 and at VenV Producties. He also appeared in various TV commercials and corporate films. Thijs is also a much sought-after voice actor for commercials, corporate films, cartoons/series and games.

Thijs played in De Zeemeermin by Studio 100 and in Tita Tovenaar by VenV Producties. Important commercials in which he was the lead were
Holland Casino; Knorr; Peijnenburg; Fair Trade; The Mortgageman; Plenty, Fiat, Suzuki, Fruit and Vegetables and De Nationale Bioscoopbon, De Staatsloterij. Thijs has also lent his voice to various characters in the Netherlands, including: Daffy Duck, Tweedle Dee/ Tweedle Dum (Alice), Doug (Up), Handy Manny, etc. For a while he was the regular voice of Toyota, SOS-Kinderdorpen, Hof van Saksen and Ernst&Young.

Thijs appeared at the Efteling in the musical "The Little Mermaid" by Studio 100, where he played the roles of "Apollo the Shark" and "Merlijn the Oyster", for which he received a nomination together with Ton Peeters. Best Supporting Actor (Musical Awards Foundation)
