about me
Kuba Szutkowski was born in 1982 in the Polish capital: Warsaw. When he is six he is moved to The Netherlands. At the University of Utrecht, he studies psychology and later at the University of Tilburg a masters in philosophy. In 2009 he graduated as an audio-visual designer at the Willem de Kooning Academy in Rotterdam. During his studies he produces the short: Some Things Are Really Simple (IFFR, NFF, nominated for NPS New Arrivals). Kuba's working career starts as a first and second AD for television drama and shorts.
Together with the celebrated actor Dragan Bakema he starts the film and tv production company Popov Film Rotterdam in 2009. With the Ro Theater and the Boijmans Museum he produces and co-directs the absurd art tv show: Boijmans TV. He has been the director and producer of various documentary and fiction shorts selected by festivals like INTERFILM Berlin, Kasseler Dokfest and national and local broadcasters in The Netherlands. In 2015 Popov Film releases it's first feature film by tiger-award winning director Erik van Lieshout. Now Kuba Szutkowski is working on a television documentary about the good and bad of the international voluntourism industry.
