about me
Amber Veltman (born 1998) moves as a dancer and physical actor between various disciplines: from modern dance to mime, from acrobatic partnering to textual theatre. She graduated from the Amsterdam University of the Arts (Modern Theatre Dance) in 2020 and has since worked with companies such as Wabi Sabi Theater, Het Houten Huis, Collectief MAMM, Faizah Grootens, and Deronde/Deroo. She also tours as a dancer with rapper Elmer, embracing her own diversity and queerness. At festivals like Buitenkunst, she can express her versatile artistry by creating and experimenting—from dance raves to tranquil forest performances, from raw to tender.
Her work is always in motion, fueled by a curiosity about the layers within herself and the world around her. In 2024, she traveled to Indonesia to explore her Javanese-Surinamese roots. There, she took classes in Balinese dance, Javanese court dance, and Jaipong—experiences that added new layers to her physical vocabulary.
On stage, Amber continually seeks authenticity and connection: she sees performing as a moment of stillness in time — a point of intensity where everything comes together, yet is always changing.
In 2025 she was nominated for the Young Swan most impressive youth dance performance 2025 for her role in Terecht (12+) (Maarten Smit in collaboration with Davey Bakker / Wabi Sabi Theater in collaboration with Het Houten Huis, Stichting Herstel en Terugkeer).
ask me for
remarks
I like to move — dance, yoga, surfing, sailing, skating and running.
In addition, I am flexible (hypermobile), drive a car and often travel with my own camper.
I am queer and enjoy working on projects that embrace openness and diversity.
