My name is Sofie Smits, a creative all-rounder with a background in Fashion & Theatre Design. From my passion for storytelling, atmosphere and experience, I work on various projects within theatre, theming and graphic design. I have experience as a costume designer, dresser, set builder and graphic designer, and I like to combine my sense of image, detail and organisation. But I also have a huge passion for acting - both on stage and in front of the camera. I prefer to combine my creative knowledge and love for performance, so that I can come into my own not only behind the scenes, but also in front of the scenes and on stage.

Ik sta open voor rollen op het podium of voor de camera, maar ook voor opdrachten waarbij mijn achtergrond in styling, kostuum, decor of visueel ontwerp van pas komt. Juist de combinatie van performance en vormgeving maakt mij uniek – en ik denk graag creatief én praktisch mee in het totaalplaatje.

Thanks to my background in Fashion & Theater Design, I not only have a feeling for acting, but also for image, styling and atmosphere. That helps me to portray roles visually and content-wise. I am spontaneous, eager to learn, work professionally and like to think along on set or in the rehearsal room. My experience behind the scenes makes me a team player with an eye for detail and a great sense of responsibility.

I was recently active as a dresser for the musical Sister Act and worked on Theaterfestival Boulevard, where I was involved in both production and theming. During my education I designed performances such as Janneman Robinson and Poeh, Een Goed Mens and Opopbouw, where I was responsible for both decor and costume. My graduation project Verwondering revolved around creating an experiential world in which play, form and styling come together. In addition, I develop visual content for social media, and I worked as a model and designer for the character Karlijn Konijn. This mix of playing, designing and creating is exactly what I like to do.

hardware knowledge
Ervaring met digitale camera’s (voor foto en video), basiskennis licht- en geluidsapparatuur in theatersetting, en vertrouwd met grafische tablets. Daarnaast werk ik vlot met iPads voor digitaal schetsen en contentcreatie.

software knowledge
Adobe Creative Cloud (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, Premiere Pro), Procreate, Canva, Microsoft Office, Google Workspace.
