As a child I quickly knew that acting was my passion. I gained my first acting experience during a production at primary school, where the field received a lot of attention out of personal interest. As soon as I could, I signed up for local youth drama classes.
Highlights of this period are the performances Leonce and Lena by Georg Buchner and The King Dies by Eugene Ionesco. After my teenage years I gained more experience through acting lessons with Maxime Verhagen, where improvisational theater was central. These lessons have made me more confident on stage, where I already feel naturally at home. At theater group De Gildebroeders I have been able to fulfill various roles, such as in Engelen Zonder Vleugels by Albert Husson and De Dierbare Overledene. Not farces, as is often the case with local theatre, but we preferred the absurdist theatre.
I got a good insight into the television and radio world during my internship at the then radio station Radio Gooiland (later Radio 192), where I worked with Eddie Becker, Krijn Torringa and Tineke de Nooij, among others. I helped in the production of a television series led by Michael Bakker. In the following years I fulfilled extra roles in the television series Wolff (1997), IC (2002) and Vrouwen zijn Beesten (2003). A fierce role was the role of a bird watcher in the feature film Kom en Kus Mijn Ziel (2004) by Herman Vogel with co-star Dirk van de Pol. In 2014 I played the role of 'Dineke' in the scripted reality series Achter Gesloten Deuren ('A Chain of Violence'). My last television appearance was in the youth series 'De Faker' in 2021.
Since 2015 I also work as a training actress, in aggression and communication training and for assessments through my company Renate Acteert!
I have also made cinema films with children and directed a war film with 140 cast and crew members.
