Carlos de Vries (September 23, 1990, Brazil) grew up in World Heritage Beemster from 1994 as an adopted child of Dutch parents. He started his musical career at the NKT Theater School in Purmerend. Here he took singing, acting and dance lessons from 2001 to 2007. After this, Carlos took acting lessons for a year with Son Koper and Rob Florence at the Theater School of the ROC in Amsterdam, where he played in various plays by Pauline Mol, Alex van Warmerdam and DBC Pierre, among others. From 2008 to 2012, Carlos studied at the Dutch Academy of Performing Arts, where he received singing lessons from Ivo van Leeuwen and Frederike Schonis, among others. During his time at the Dutch Academy of Performing Arts, he sang with the Dutch Event Choir as a backing vocalist and soloist for the Uitmarkt Musical Sing-a-Long, the Musical Awards Gala and other events in Dutch theatres. During this study he performed leading roles in the musicals 'Into the Woods', 'Kiss me Kate' and the Boy George musical 'Taboo'. Carlos took part in the SBS6 A Capella talent show 'The Sing Off' with the singing group 'Blue Monday' in 2011 and worked closely with Tjeerd Oosterhuis, Karin Bloemen and Jetse Bremer. In 2017 Carlos graduated from Fontys University of the Arts in Tilburg. Here he received singing lessons from Edward Hoepelman, Miranda van Kralingen, Harry Ruijl and Wilma Bierens, among others. In addition, he has followed master classes with Ed Spanjaard, Pia Douwes, Patricia Nessy (Vienna) and with Carmelo Corrado Caruso (Italy). In 2018 Carlos could be seen in the role of Harpo in the musical The Color Purple, by musical producer Opus One and he will also be seen again during the tour version of this musical.
