Kannakee Bhuyan

KANNAKEE (Assam , 1982) is a performance artist/ dancer / model based in Amsterdam. She has been working with various multidisciplinary artists and directors in film, stage and liveart medium including performance art and theatre festivals like Fringe and Flam.
Kannakee's creative journey has taken her to work with her favourite artist, Olivier de Sagazan, a French sculpture, painter and performing artist who works with clay and paint to build layers on the body and face to achieve disextras and transformation. A former member of Dans Spel Film Ensemble Meli Kuhn, she is currently working with Hobelasai Dance Company.
Back In India, she graduated in Sociology and post graduated in acting from the Film and Television Institute of India besides being trained in the nuances of Indian classical dance forms - Bharatnatyam and Sattiya. She worked in the Bollywood film industry as a costume stylist besides performing with various theatre groups(Rage,Proscenium,Seagull). Kannakee travelled and lived in South India (Auroville) and South Portugal (Meco) in permaculture farms (Heal the Soil, Community Served Agriculture) making art with waste materials. In 2012 she was in London doing theatre with Meet Alice Theatre Company and moved to Amsterdam in 2014 where she continues to pursue her passion for the performing arts.
